Friends…I just had THE BEST. WEEKEND. EVER!!!
I was blessed to have a FABULOUS friend from Minnesota come visit me over the weekend. A friend I haven’t seen in well over 3 years.
Ladies and gentlemen…allow me to introduce you to…
Ang.
Obviously the “ivory” of the duo we so proudly refer to as “ebony & ivory” which is…US.
DUH!
Now, I know what you’re thinking…you’re thinking, “Wow, did Ang end up in JAIL while she was visiting that bad influence of a friend, Karissa?”
No, no she didn’t.
And if she did, I wouldn’t have been able to bail her out because, let’s be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to afford it.
That glorious photo of Ang was the day she arrived in Atlanta following a FULL ON 3 day bender…of being a mom…and she wanted a haircut. No lie. This chick no more than got off the airplane from Minneapolis and she was telling me about how she wanted a Halle Berry haircut.
Something like this…
Being the STELLAR friend that I am…I wasted NO TIME and phoned my hair salon here in Atlanta…
…and then I did what any awesome friend would do after picking up their friend from the airport after an EARLY morning flight…
Coffee and Breakfast…
I decided on Highland Bakery because I’d been DYING to check the place out and had heard NOTHING but RAVE reviews.
We weren’t disappointed.
It was a GORGEOUS day and THANKFULLY the cafe had outdoor seating, so we opted to sit outside and it was just lovely.
For starters, Ang had a Mocha and I settled on a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Let me just say this, Starbucks ain’t got NOTHIN’ on Highland Bakery when it comes to the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Just sayin’.
We decided to go for a sweet AND a savory dish for breakfast and then split the two…there were SO MANY delicious items on the menu, it was a difficult decision.
What you see there are Cilantro Corn Pancakes and Peanut Butter French Toast with Caramelized Bananas.
Hands down one of the BEST breakfasts I’ve EVER had.
So, after breakfast it was off to the hair salon for the Halle Berry haircut.
I was literally on pins and needles as I watched the stylist RAZOR away Ang’s hair.
As I watched the clumps of Ang’s hair hit the floor I thought to myself, “Self…WHAT IN THE WORLD HAVE YOU DONE?”
I mean, WHO in their RIGHT mind takes their friend to have ALL of their hair cut off during a visit? Especially at the BEGINNING of their visit.
Basically I was watching my life flash before my eyes and I wasn’t even the one having my hair cut.
And then this happened…
No. Joke.
It’s only the MOST AWESOME haircut I’ve ever seen in my life…and I’m jealous.
I mean, people….doesn’t she look FABULOUS?! Mmmmmmmhhhmmmmm….I got to hang out with her ALL. WEEKEND. LONG.
And, I got to witness people stopping her EVERYWHERE WE WENT to pay her compliments on her HOTNESS!
She was fierce before, but her fierce-o-meter went up about 100 notches after she cut off all of her hair.
This girl…she KNOWS what she wants and she’s ALWAYS spot on!!
Naturally, we set out for the M-A-L-L after the hair salon. We lasted about 2.5 hours and then we called it quits for the day.
Saturday was jam packed with shopping and general shenanigans.
We stopped in and had a little lunch at the Mexican Restaurant…
Then we went for manicures and pedicures…
Ang went for OPI’s “You Don’t Know Jacques” and I settled on OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Midnight.”
Because we move so graciously, we both managed to muck up our manicures before our polish was fully dry. I guess it comes with the territory of being Ebony & Ivory. I say…story of my life.
By this time on Saturday, it was only 5:00 pm, so we high tailed our hot backsides out for some more shopping. I mean, duh…what else?!
Wouldn’t you know…we hit the JACKPOT on Saturday night when we just happened up on a NEW store in the shopping complex of my neighboring city…
Hands down the BEST shopping experience of our entire weekend.
I’m not sure what it is about Ang and I, but when you put the two of us together, it’s like we’re a MAGNET to other humans. We draw people in at the snap of a finger and before you know it, we’ve got new best friends just like that.
Last night at fab’rik was NO EXCEPTION.
The girls working in that store were ECSTATIC to see us and they made sure to tell us so. I can’t lie, I was excited to see those girls, too. They were ridiculously helpful to us, offered us wine and mimosas…I mean, could your shopping experience get ANY better than that?
So, Ang and I shopped and sipped and sipped and shopped and then offered up our modeling services to the store…
Yes, yes we are ROCKSTARS. Obviously.
Before we knew it, an hour and a half had passed us by!! And then all of our money was gone, too!!
Weird how that happens.
That my friends concludes my weekend adventures.
Until next time…

LOVE
I have to say that Ang has AWESOME taste in nail color! “You Don’t Know Jaques” is one of my ‘go-to’s’.
